Dr. Lorne Everett Receives ASTM International Technical Editors Award
Dr. Everett receiving the ASTM International Technical Editors Award from Dr. Germaine at the Annual ASTM International Meeting

Dr. Lorne G. Everett was presented the ASTM International Technical Editors Award by Dr. Jack T Germaine, the Chairman of the ASTM Soil and Rock Committee (D18). The Award was presented during the Annual ASTM International Meeting held in June 2015 in Anaheim, California. The Award recognizes the book: Continuous Soil Gas Measurements: Worst Case Risk Parameters (ASTM Special Technical Publication STP 1570) edited by Dr. Everett and Dr. Mark Kram. This volume assembled papers from an earlier international symposium that was also co-chaired by Drs. Everett and Kram. The book is seen as an important contribution to the field of vapor intrusion because it is the first volume to focus on the dynamic behavior of soil gas and its effect on vapor intrusion. A new appreciation of the dynamic behavior of soil gas has resulted in substantial increase in the number and kinds of parameters evaluated in order to develop defendable human health risk and explosion risk calculations. Increased awareness of vapor intrusion and its liabilities often require that site investigations provide a better understanding of the temporal variations of parameters critical in soil gas behavior and vapor intrusion. This can represent significant new obligations to property owners, potential buyers and environmental professionals, alike.

Dr. Everett brought a highly complex site to a swift and extremely beneficial closure and his forensic work resulted in a huge victory for my clients, and others as well, in an extremely significant matter.
