By LEA Environmental, Inc. on May 07, 2013 at 09:56 AM in LEA Announcements

For the past 25 years, Dr. Lorne Everett has been invited by the President of the World Federation of Scientists at CERN Switzerland (home of the Large Hadron Collider) to participate in Planetary Emergency meetings held in Erice, Italy (Invitation).  In 2013, the meetings are scheduled for August 19 -26. The meetings have attracted over 125 Nobel Laureates over the years. Dr. Everett chairs the World Federation of Scientists Panel on Pollution. The themes of Dr. Everett’s plenary sessions this year are Innovative Cleanup Technologies for chlorinated hydrocarbons, petroleum hydrocarbons, nanotechnology applications and terrorist threats to drinking water infrastructure. Included in the discussions will be bioterrorism using endocrine disrupting chemicals (Program). In addition to developing and chairing his plenary themes and inviting the guest speakers, Dr. Everett will chair the Pollution Panel on the opening day. A second meeting in the fall is often held at the Pontifical Academy of Sciences in the Vatican. The current fifteen Planetary Emergencies range from AIDS to Nuclear Holocaust. The meetings are held in three magnificent buildings that were formerly monasteries and are located on a mountain top overlooking the Mediterranean in the medieval City of Erice, Italy. The symposium proceedings are published annually by World Scientific under the heading: International Seminar on Nuclear War and Planetary Emergencies.
