Dr. Lorne G. Everett, PhD, DSc received the highest honor bestowed by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the Distinguished Member Award, Class of 2020. The award reads:
“For international recognition of publishing the classic groundwater monitoring books, development of unanimously approved national vadose zone monitoring standards and the inspiration and development of original patents related to contaminated site soil, soil gas and groundwater characterization and remediation technologies.”

Dr. Lorne Everett Receives ASCE Life Member Award

Dr. Lorne Everett was awarded Life Member status by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) on March 7, 2020. A Life Member is an individual who has made a lifetime commitment to ASCE and the civil engineering profession by remaining a member for the full length of his or her professional career. Among other criteria, the designation occurs when a professional has been an ASCE member for at least 35 years and has 10 years of continuous membership prior to the award. Dr Everett joined ASCE in 1974 and was awarded the high status of Fellow in January 2011. At the induction ceremony, it was noted that Dr Everett’s most gratifying position was as Manager of General Electric’s Centre for Advanced Studies Water Resources program. His most significant career achievement was Chancellor of Lakehead University from 2000-2009. It was noted that his most significant lifetime achievement is Chairman of the World Federation of Scientists Panel on Pollution located at CERN, Geneva that holds annual meetings in Italy. Over years, the meetings have been attended by more than a hundred and twenty Nobel Laureates to address planetary emergencies ranging from pollution to nuclear holocaust.
