Dr. Everett Receives Academy�s Highest Honor

Lorne G. Everett was named an Honorary Diplomate Water Resources Engineer, the highest honor bestowed by the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers. The award was presented in May 2016 at the World Water and Environmental Resources Congress in West Palm Beach, Florida. The award reads: “You have been recognized for the Academy’s highest honor, as you have demonstrated advanced expertise in water resources and environmental engineering, commitment to life-long professional development, significant contributions to the field of professional engineering and service. The Academy noted that Dr. Everett had authored some of the “classic” books on groundwater and vadose zone monitoring and had developed multiple International ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) standards.

Dr. Everett served as Chancellor of Lakehead University from 2000-2009. He is also a member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. Lorne received the 13th PhD in Hydrology in America from the University of Arizona. In 1974 Lorne was invited to join General Electric’s “think tank”, TEMPO, in Santa Barbara California. He has made presentations on different occasions to the US Congress and has dined in the White House. Lorne has published over 14 books on groundwater, holds several groundwater patents and has published over 150 papers and reports. His book entitled Groundwater Monitoring was endorsed by EPA as establishing the “state of the art used by industry today” and was recommended by the World Health Organization for all developing countries.

Dr. Everett received the Kapitsa Gold Medal from the Russian Academy, the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal from the Governor General of Canada and the Medal of Excellence from the US Navy plus numerous other awards. Lorne is a Fellow of ASCE, AWRA, and ASTM. He is the Chairman of the World Federation of Scientists Panel on Pollution (headquartered at CERN Geneva) and has Chaired Planetary Emergency meetings in Erice, Italy every August for the past 28 years. Over 125 Nobel Laureates have participated over the years in these World Federation of Scientists meetings.


Dr. Everett brought a highly complex site to a swift and extremely beneficial closure and his forensic work resulted in a huge victory for my clients, and others as well, in an extremely significant matter.
